Undergraduate Scholarships

The Foundation for Environmental Agriculture Education (FEAE) will provide the following Scholarships to be awarded to deserving Undergraduate students in agriculture.

RICHARD L. JENSEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $3,000
- A $3,000 scholarship known as the Richard L. Jensen Scholarship. It commemorates one of the early members of the National Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants.

FEAE RAY YOUNG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $3,000
- One $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to an Undergraduate student to honor Mr. Ray Young. Known as the longest-tenured crop consultant in the United States, Ray Young was a tireless advocate for Agriculture in his home state of Louisiana, as well as at the national level in Washington, D.C.
CORTEVA UNDERGRADUATE ENRICHMENT SCHOLARSHIP: $3,000
- One $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to an Undergraduate student. This Scholarship is sponsored by Corteva Agriscience.
FEAE FAMILY MEMBER SCHOLARSHIP: $2,500

- A graduate or undergraduate student of agriculture of immediate family of an NAICC member may receive this $2,500 award. Immediate family may include grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eligibility will ultimately be at the discretion of the scholarship selection committee.
FEAE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS: $1,500
- Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to two Undergraduate students.

Graduate Scholarships

The Foundation for Environmental Agriculture Education (FEAE) will provide the following Scholarships to be awarded to deserving Graduate students in agriculture:

DR. EDWARD H. LLOYD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: $3,000
- Edward H. Lloyd Memorial Graduate Scholarship has been funded annually for $3,000 in remembrance of Edward H. Lloyd who was a founding member of the NAICC.

FEAE WILBUR ELLIS GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000
- Wilbur Ellis Graduate Scholarship is sponsored for $2,000 by Wilbur Ellis to help support the agriculture industry.
FEAE FAMILY MEMBER SCHOLARSHIP: $2,500
- A graduate or undergraduate student of agriculture of immediate family of an NAICC member may receive this $2,500 award. Immediate family may include grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eligibility will ultimately be at the discretion of the scholarship selection committee.

Congratulations to the 2024 Scholarship Winners

I feel incredibly honored to have been selected for the Richard Jensen Scholarship. As an Agricultural Communications major and young entrepreneur in the beginning stages of my business, receiving this scholarship gives me more time to dedicate to the development of InfoFilm. InfoFilm is my agricultural communications business, which focuses on sharing the story behind agriculture producer operations. I am also active and have a leadership role in the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program, serve as the president of the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Council, and am interning at the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources Media.

I would like to thank the FEAE and the donor(s) of the Edward H. Lloyd Memorial Scholarship for the generous gift of this scholarship. Being awarded this scholarship means that I can focus on my academics rather than my financial situation. I am currently a first year Masters student studying Horticulture and Crop Sciences, specifically focusing on plant breeding. I am the current Treasurer of the Graduate Student Association (GSA) in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science. I also spend time planning fundraisers benefiting the graduate students’ well-being and mental health. In addition, I volunteered for a week at the World Food Prize Global Youth Institute in Des Moines, IA last October, leading the youth through a series of workshops training them to become pioneers in combating food insecurity.

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible honor of being the graduate student selected to be the recipient for the Wilbur Ellis Scholarship. Your generosity has both lightened the financial burden of my education and motivated me to excel academically. I am currently entering the final semester of my Master’s degree at North Dakota State University (NDSU). For the last two years I have been working with the Soybean Breeding Program. My research here involves studying our yield gains over time, as well as studying and determining the genetic diversity within our breeding program. Upon graduation, I would ideally prefer to continue my education working towards a PhD. When I begin my career, my goal is to continue in an area of research that allows me to work towards crop improvement.

I am writing to extend my gratitude for your generous support through the FEAE Scholarship. Your belief in my potential and commitment to pursuing a career in Plant Sciences means a great deal to me. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Plant Science with a concentration in plant genetics and biotechnology. I am a member of the Schreyer Honors College here at Penn State. As an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Chopra Maize Genetics Lab, I have had the privilege of contributing to the development and evaluation of maize breeding lines that offer health benefits to both plants and animals. Additionally, this summer I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the IoT4Ag Precision Agriculture REU Internship at the University of Florida. Upon completing my undergraduate degree in Plant Science, I have decided to pursue a PhD in agriculture, a decision grounded in my fervent interest in plant breeding and sustainable agriculture.

Thank you for choosing me to receive your academic scholarship. This scholarship has helped enable me to pursue my goals under less financial burden. I grew up in Western Kansas on a mostly dryland family farm that raises wheat, corn, and sorghum. After I complete my undergraduate program, I am planning to continue my agricultural education at graduate school. I am also looking forward to my internship next summer where I will be field scouting and consulting for producers in northern North Dakota. I am highly involved on campus and in my fraternity, where I currently serve as the health and safety manager. I have previously served as house manager and class vice president. I am also involved in the Wheat State Agronomy Club where I serve as Vice President. Within the department of agronomy, I compete on the extremely successful fall and spring crops teams. I sincerely thank everyone who generously donates to the foundation to make scholarships like this possible.
